A couple of weeks ago, I shared what I learned about hope and strength while on vacation this past summer. I used the example of working out by using stairs, after realizing the resort did not have a gym. I have to admit, I was a little irritated since I had my workout in mind and “no gym” did not fit into the plan and goals. Instead of quitting, I decided I would continue by going in a different direction despite this little interruption.
If you are like me, a busy woman with a plan and schedule, it is tempting to think it is just not meant to be when interruptions happen. Or maybe you are unsure of how to make it work and lose your ambition when things don’t go “just as you had planned.”
When you feel like things are just not going to happen because your plan and ideas don’t always workout it, keep a few things in mind.
- Interruptions will always happen.
Yes, we are to be wise with our time by planning and preparing for our day and future. However, sometimes we have to be flexible when faced with the unexpected. That interruption may be a way for God to demonstrate His power to overcome a particular obstacle or a part of His plan to fulfill His purpose in your life.
- When you can’t do what you want to do, do what you can do.
Instead of giving up because things did not go according to plan or your timeframe, don’t throw it all down the drain. Do what you can with the time and resources that you do have.
- You can still accomplish your goal and purpose despite what may have been thrown your way.
If things were always easy, we would not need to rely on the Lord as our strength. Just because you may have gotten thrown a “curve ball,” God can still give you the strength and wisdom to fulfill His plan for your life.
Here is what I know. God calls us to take care of our body (1 Corinthians 3:17), and He has created a job for us to do and fulfill His purpose (Jeremiah 29:11). However, it does not mean that it will always come easy, yet we are still to do His will.
So when you are tempted to get irritated when things do not go according to plan, instead of quitting, continue on, despite life’s interruptions.
